Membership

New members are always welcome here at the Yakima Prospectors Association. If you are interested in membership we recommend you attend one of our monthly meetings and get to know us. Guests are always welcome at our monthly meetings.  Our membership is very inexpensive at $25.00 a year and this includes immediate family.  We have active claims on the Peshastin Creek near the old town of Blewett mining district and on the Little Naches river near the fish ladders.  We have many years of experience among our members and we are always willing to teach you how to prospect.

Some Reviews from new members:

Shawn B. “I pretty much joined because I’ve always dreamed of finding nuggets and you folks are doing it locally!”  “I dreamed of finding enough so I don’t have to worry about money and work!”

Rich W.  “When I was young I was interested in History.  I found articles on gold and started studying that.  I got interested in the Blewett Pass area.  I found some gold at the old stamp mill at the old Blewett town site.  Then a friend introduced me to the Yakima Prospectors Association!”

Chris F.  “I joined the Yakima Prospectors Club in October of 2022 and I was greeted by most of the club members and felt welcomed.  That first night a member offered to meet me at the claims to show me around the VERY next day and it was nasty out.  We walked around and he showed me around and explained a lot of stuff.  He even offered to lend me his equipment.  I have made friends there!  The club is very helpful in all aspects for helping newcomers like me.  Thank you YPA!!!”

Bob N. “I joined YPA to get outdoors, get more exercise, meet new people and learn how to prospect for gold.”  “It makes a difference when you get them out there and show them how it’s done!”

Neil P. “Growing up in Montana I was blessed to spend a lot of time in the woods.  My uncle would tell me of his exploring in the Bob Marshall where he found a vein of high grade gold ore.  Going back, he never found the vein again but it made for some great stories!”  “I dabbled with panning a few times in Oregon and loved the times outdoors but never found much gold.  After retiring I started researching Washington gold and came across the Yakima Prospectors Club.  At my first meeting I knew this would be a most helpful group so I started attending monthly meetings and checked out the claims the club holds.  It was on one of these trips I met some of the other members and learned about great techniques for stream sluicing.  I can honestly say if it had not been for the help of experienced club members I would still be a long way from appreciating mining for gold!”
